District 11
District 11 is
one of 47 districts of the Retired Teachers of Ontario. We serve the
retired teachers of the Region of Waterloo. We enjoy a membership of
2300 full and associate members. By exploring our website you will learn

ERO/RTO Provincial
For over 40
years, The Retired Teachers of Ontario/Les enseignantes et enseignants
retraités de l’Ontario (RTO/ERO) has provided excellent programs and
services for teachers and administrators in retirement.
A bilingual and
voluntary organization, The Retired Teachers of Ontario offers numerous
benefits to members. These include: pension protection; health care
coverage; a Long Term Care Plan; advocacy on social, political and
economic issues; group travel programs; community involvement; and
regular communication from both Provincial and District levels.
RTO/ERO provides
a strong and active voice for a membership of 60,000 members. Members
range in age from 51 to 100 plus and include 4,000 associate members,
most of whom receive spousal pension as widows or widowers of retired
Full Members
Retired teachers who
meet the following criteria are eligible to become full members of
RTO/ERO:

A retired teacher who is receiving a pension
from the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan
Associate Members
Individuals who meet
one of the following criteria are eligible to become associate members
of RTO/ERO:

A retired teacher who is receiving a pension
from the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and whose spouse is a Full
member of RTO/ERO

A retired teacher who opted for a deferred
pension from the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

A retired teacher who opted for the commuted
value of his/her contributions to the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan
-
The surviving spouse of a Full or Associate
member who is not eligible to receive a teacher's pension
-
A retired educator who is receiving a pension
from a University or College in

A retired teacher who is receiving a pension
from a teacher's pension fund outside
-
A non-educator divorced spouse of a Full or
Associate member

A non-educator employee of an Ontario School
Board or educational organization

A person who holds a teaching certificate and,
upon retirement, will be eligible to receive a pension from the
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan

A person who holds a teaching certificate, who
is not retired, is contributing to the Ontario Public Service
Pension Fund or equivalent in a Canadian jurisdiction outside

A person who holds a teaching certificate, who
is not retired, is contributing to an
